The opportunity
An established company operating within the renewable energy sector is seeking a technically minded professional to support the planning and delivery of utility-scale photovoltaic projects.
You will translate project requirements into practical electrical designs, prepare technical documentation and coordinate closely with customers and internal departments throughout the project lifecycle.
Your responsibilities
- Review customer enquiries and PV designs to assess technical feasibility and identify potential improvements.
- Produce detailed AutoCAD drawings and layouts for ground-mounted solar installations.
- Develop project-specific DC and string-cabling concepts.
- Calculate cable lengths and specify suitable cables, connectors, junctions and related electrical components.
- Prepare technical bills of materials to support costing, quotations, procurement and project delivery.
- Resolve technical queries with customers and other project stakeholders.
- Coordinate the transfer of technical information to commercial, procurement, planning, production and logistics teams.
- Provide technical guidance during initial installation activities, including occasional on-site support.
- Document project changes, requirements and technical decisions.
- Use feedback from customers and construction sites to improve internal products, solutions and processes.
Your profile
- Completed vocational training in electrical engineering, building services, industrial electronics or electrical installation; alternatively, a technical degree or comparable qualification.
- A background in electrical engineering, energy technology, renewable energy, technical design or project planning would be beneficial.
- Ideally, experience designing ground-mounted PV installations, solar-farm layouts, DC cabling systems or comparable electrical infrastructure.
- Applications are also welcomed from technically capable graduates looking to develop their careers within solar energy.
- Confident user of AutoCAD; knowledge of specialist PV design software would be advantageous.
- Able to interpret technical drawings and system designs and convert them into workable solutions.
- Careful, organised and solution-focused working style.
- Comfortable communicating with customers and coordinating across different internal departments.
- Willingness to undertake occasional customer visits and site assignments.
- German proficiency of at least C1 and English proficiency of at least B2.
