The Team – your impact

The Software Engineering Chapter in Technology & Engineering represents all experts who deliver essential software development and engineering capabilities, to all our product teams. These experts are organized together in a center of competence, the Chapter, to keep E.ON’s code base modern, secure, and excellent.

You will join our team in developing E.ON’s Cloud Native SWE Platform. We integrate development (Dev) and operations (Ops) tools and practices, emphasizing automation and streamlining of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Our main goal is to empower our product teams to deliver software products more quickly, reliably, and efficiently.

Your Role – meaningful & rewarding

You are passionate about building the future of E.ON’s cloud-native infrastructure. In this role, you will work with your professional and dynamic team to develop robust microservices. Together, you will shape how we manage and provision our cloud resources through innovative automation

  • Designing, developing, and operating resilient, high-performance microservices using the Quarkus Java stack, which serves as the backbone of our service landscape
  • Working within our GitOps environment, using tools like ArgoCD to ensure our infrastructure and applications are deployed and managed consistently and automatically
  • Utilizing and improving our GitLab CI pipelines, taking ownership of the pipeline configuration for the applications and operators you develop
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of our internal tooling and automation scripts, using Python, Bash and Go, to support your applications and the team
  • Contributing to our portfolio of infrastructure components, and learning to develop custom Crossplane providers in Go. This work exposes our REST services as declarative, version-controlled resources

Your Profile – authentic & open-minded

  • Long-term and profound professional experience in developing modern, cloud-native microservices in Java, with hands-on expertise in Spring Boot
  • Experience with or a strong desire to master Go for cloud-native development, especially in building Kubernetes operators and automation tools
  • Deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes does not scare you. You have a strong understanding of core concepts such as Pods, Deployments, and Services
  • Solid understanding of GitOps principles and experience with tools like ArgoCD
  • Experience in CI/CD concepts and practical skills in configuring and using pipelines, preferably with GitLab CI
  • Solid understanding of at least one major cloud provider (AWS or Azure) and containerization
  • Fluent in both German and English
