The Team – your impact
Our Sustainability Management Solutions Team plays a key role in developing and delivering digital solutions that enable E.ON to meet its sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) goals. We focus on creating robust, future-proof applications that support accurate ESG reporting, data transparency, and compliance with regulatory standards. Our mission is to drive digital innovation that empowers sustainable decision-making across the group.
As an Application Engineer, you are part of a cross-functional BizDevOps team, working closely with the Technical Product Owner, sustainability experts, developers, IT specialists, and senior stakeholders. You will be responsible for the development, enhancement, and operation of group-wide sustainability applications, ensuring seamless data integration, automation, and scalability within E.ON’s IT ecosystem.
Your Role – meaningful & rewarding

Lead the technical ESG data collection process across the E.ON Group, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and transparency for sustainability and HSE reporting

Identify, acquire, and integrate diverse internal and external data sources, preparing and cleaning data for advanced analysis

Apply advanced analytics, including machine learning, forecasting, and data/text mining, to generate actionable sustainability insights and support strategic decision-making

Define use cases, recommend appropriate data science solutions, and evaluate their value and effectiveness

Develop and maintain policies, standards, and guidelines for ESG data management, analytics, and reporting

Support internal and external audits by ensuring traceability and compliance with reporting requirements

Collaborate closely with stakeholders across IT and business to enhance cooperation and drive ESG data initiatives
Your Profile – authentic & open-minded

Degree in computer science, data science, engineering, or equivalent professional experience in relevant industries

Proven expertise in digital transformation, IT solutions, and the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)

Experience with data lakes, big data analytics, and sustainability/HSE reporting tools (e.g. CR360), ideally with environmental indicators such as CO₂ calculations and product carbon footprints

Skilled in requirements engineering, with knowledge of programming languages as an advantage

Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to translate business needs into IT solutions

Knowledge of IT processes in the energy sector, preferably within the E.ON Group

High self-initiative, assertiveness, and operational excellence in integrating business and IT
