As Director Procurement, you will hold global accountability for strategic procurement and supply chain management for RWE Renewables Europe and Australia Onshore Wind, Solar and Battery projects - from early development through execution and operations. You will lead the procurement function to ensure cost-effective, reliable, and sustainable sourcing of goods and services, enabling the advancement of our project pipeline and supporting growth in our key regions across Europe & Australia. In addition, you will be a key member of the CPO organization which focuses on utilizing RWE's full strength in the supply market by cross OpCo alignment. By managing supplier relationships, implementing sourcing strategies, and collaborating across all business functions and OpCo's, you will play a business-critical role in enhancing commercial performance and delivering competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing global procurement team to support onshore wind, solar and battery project delivery throughout the project life cycle.
- Together with Global Category Directors design and implement category strategies for key CAPEX areas (Battery, PV Modules, Inverters, Wind Turbines)
- Design project strategies for Balance of Plant, Transformers and civil works, ensuring alignment with project timelines and market dynamics from a portfolio perspective.
- Ensure early procurement involvement in project planning, tendering, and contracting strategies to maximize value and mitigate risks
- In alignment with Global Categories conduct major framework negotiations with strategic suppliers to support the business transforming from a project towards a portfolio mindset
- Partner with development, engineering, construction and operations as well as legal teams to develop robust contract structures and manage claims and variations
- Promote supplier innovation and sustainability to support long-term competitiveness and ESG objectives
- Strengthen global supply chain resilience and proactively address geopolitical and logistical risks
- Drive continuous improvement, cost efficiency and value creation to reduce Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE)
- Ensure compliance with global sourcing regulations, HSE standards, and ethical procurement practices
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in economics, engineering, or a related field
- 12-15+ years of senior leadership in renewables, energy, or infrastructure.
- Extensive experience in procurement across the full lifecycle of onshore wind and/or solar projects
- Strong record in building collaboration across departments and engagement with boards and committees.
- Strong commercial understanding of project phases, from pre-investment decision to construction
- Deep knowledge of market trends and technology drivers in onshore wind, solar and battery storage energy
- Negotiation mindset with demonstrated ability to manage and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders across international contexts
- Excellent strategic thinking and structured problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel internationally
- Fluent in English; additional European language skills are a plus
