About the role
We are looking for an OT Infrastructure and Networking Engineer to design, implement and maintain the Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure of RWE Generation's coal & gas business in continental Europe.
Our OT landscape includes three tier-3 data centers, a wide area backbone (WAN), a demilitarized zone (DMZ) per asset, and connections to RWE units, transmission system operators (TSOs) and original equipment manufacturer (OEMs). It supports remote control, process data handling, third-party access and real-time dispatching.
Major changes for the future comprise the realisation of a dark fiber network and connecting many new sites and assets (large scale battery units, hydrogen plants, peakers and (hydrogen ready) gas units, summing up to over 12GW ). In addition, we are continuously improving and renewing our infrastructure in close cooperation with the Security Operations Centre and the Core and Applications team.
- You realise the connectivity and implementation of the local infrastructure for new sites and assets; you evaluate risks and requirements together with the project team and assure a smooth delivery, integration and commissioning together with your colleagues.
- You create and adapt designs and ways of working for these projects as well as existing infrastructure; you continuously adapt to changing requirements from other teams within Fleet Control, sites, projects and the world we operate in.
- You plan, prepare and realise timely replacement of infrastructure components to ensure availability and security.
- You maintain contacts and contracts with our service suppliers to match and adapt their services to our current and future needs and plans.
Job requirements and experience
- Completed degree in a relevant field or an equivalent qualification with relevant professional experience.
