The position is part of the externally funded collaborative research endeavor Chembion and is open from June 1st, 2025.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position is linked to the research group of Prof. Dr. Guiscard Seebohm (IfGH-Cellular Electrophysiology and Molecular Biology).
The subject of the work will be the characterization of modulators and functional analysis of neuronal/cardiac Kv7 channels. The Ph.D. student work will focus on work with transfection of heteromeric channel constructs; different electrophysiology techniques in oocytes and cells, stem cell driven 2D-cell cardiac cultures; high-resolution microscopy; modeling protein, individual electrical active cells and networks.
We will provide a structured 3-year cutting-edge Ph.D. student training program in and beyond the fields mentioned above.
REQUIREMENTS:
An ambitious Ph.D. student with strong interest in working in our multidisciplinary team
A state examination degree in pharmacy or, alternatively, a master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or biology
Excellent command of spoken and written English, communication skills as well as team spirit are essential
German language skills are not a requirement, but a willingness to learn is desirable
