Become part of the RWE Renewables team and, as a Civil Engineer, drive our onshore wind and PV projects in Germany forward, helping us shape the future of renewable energy.

The Project Engineering Germany department provides technical support and expertise in the development, construction, and operation of our wind farms across the disciplines of Resource Assessment, Site Suitability, Civil, and Electrical Engineering.

Your responsibilities in the Civil Engineering department

Point of contact for our project developers during project development, phases LPH 1-5 and 6-7:

  • Assessment and development of transport concepts for wind energy turbines (WET) and transformers.
  • Assessment and development of preliminary wind farm layouts and locations for substations.
  • Tendering of soil and foundation surveys for wind energy turbines and substations.
  • Support in developing the wind farm layout, especially construction roads, crane pads, and the substation location, for all planning phases,taking into account geological conditions encountered, planning regulations, and land availability.
  • Coordination of all planning-relevant topics with the turbine manufacturer.
  • Preparing the awarding of planning and construction services, particularly earthworks and, if necessary, specialist foundation works.
  • Participation in site visits.

Point of contact for our construction teams during the construction phase, LPH 6-7 and 8:

  • Preparing the awarding of planning and construction services, particularly earthworks and, if necessary, specialist foundation works, as well as assessing alternative and change proposals.
  • Participation in construction site visits.
  • Supporting the project management in the assessment of contract variations.

Point of contact for our operations teams during the operational phase:

  • Support in assessing defects and warranty claims as well as in maintenance measures and repairs.
  • Participation in construction site visits.
  • Your activities will take place in close coordination with our project developers, construction teams, and operations teams, as well as with your direct colleagues from other technical disciplines.

Your Profile

  • Successfully completed university degree in civil engineering.
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in civil engineering, with expertise in planning and tendering wind farms or other infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in tendering engineering services and, if applicable, in managing external engineering firms and consultants.
  • Technical knowledge of applying relevant technical standards and guidelines, particularly in the areas of earthworks, geotechnics, and reinforced concrete construction.
  • Knowledge of using AutoCAD or comparable planning software.
  • Project management skills and the ability to independently plan, organise, and prioritise tasks.
  • Team player with an interest in interdisciplinary tasks, combined with the ability to build sustainable working relationships in project teams across regions and functions.
  • Fluent German and good English skills.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel for business, typically day trips.
