(Senior) Product Designer

Smart Host is a B2B SaaS platform helping hotels turn fragmented guest and booking data into actionable insights.

For 2026, we’re taking the platform to the next level by building a broader hospitality ecosystem that connects selected technology partners to improve the guest experience across the entire hotel journey.

This is a role for someone who wants to understand problems deeply, design systems, prototype fearlessly, and build real products with modern tools.

Why this role

We're building the next generation guest intelligence and growth engine for hotels.

You'll design for hotel managers and marketing teams: daily users and reluctant ones, same product.

We're hiring a broad, curious product designer who prototypes instead of just mocking, uses AI as a daily tool rather than a buzzword, and moves fluidly across the product and everything around it.

You'll be owning areas outright, involved across the whole company, not locked into one lane.

What you'll do

1. Discovery & problem framing

  • Conduct and lead user interviews (with PM)
  • Shape Jobs To Be Done: define them, don't just apply them
  • Synthesize qualitative insights and quantitative data into structured problem statements
  • Challenge product direction early

2. Solution design & prototyping

  • Co-create solutions with Product and Engineering
  • Prototype early and often: Figma is the floor, whatever's fastest is the ceiling
  • Think beyond screens: system behavior, data flows, edge cases

3. Design & delivery

  • Own UX and UI from idea to shipped product
  • Create high-fidelity designs in Figma with clear states, edge cases, and interactions
  • Work closely with engineers during implementation so quality survives handover

4. Design systems & design engineering mindset

  • Contribute to and evolve our design system
  • Design components that are directly usable by engineers
  • Act as a design technologist who bridges design and engineering and reduces handover friction

5. One coherent experience

  • You understand the product doesn't stop at the product itself. A good product is a product that gets used and makes sense; a good brand feels like one across every touchpoint. You're willing to be an essential part of that
  • Bring visual sensibility (layout, typography, motion) to whatever you touch
  • Provide components, assets, and guidelines others can apply

6. AI & modern tooling as a core part of the role

  • AI-assisted design workflows, prototyping with AI tools, exploring intelligent interfaces
  • Up to date with new tools, AI capabilities, and emerging UX paradigms
  • Think about how AI improves our users' workflows: smarter interfaces, less manual work

What we're looking for

  • End-to-end ownership of a product area, from the ambiguous problem to the shipped thing, unsupervised
  • Strong discovery skills: user interviews, problem framing, insight synthesis
  • Technologist mindset: close to engineering, designs with implementation in mind
  • Your own exploration with AI tools, unprompted: show us something you built
  • Strong prototyping skills. You make ideas tangible, fast
  • Some branding, visual, or motion background, enough to keep the whole experience coherent
  • Code-aware: knows what's cheap or expensive to build, doesn't surprise engineers
  • Curiosity as a trait, not a claim: you try new tools before being asked
  • Clear English: your thinking survives translation into a Slack message
  • Extra points for previous experience with B2B SaaS scale-up, and/or hospitality

How we hire

  • Portfolio over CV. We want to see two or three projects and how you thought, not a list of employers.
  • In the first conversation, walk us through one thing you prototyped with AI tooling. Ten minutes, rough is fine, personal project is fine

Why Smart Host

  • Hybrid Work: work hybrid from our Berlin office
  • Team culture: Join a diverse, multicultural team with an open office culture and a few four-legged colleagues.
  • Smart Host Days - Team Travel: Once a year, we take the whole team on a trip abroad. The trip combines team bonding, training, and the chance to live our mission: making vacation smart.
