Project Engineer Geotechnics - Energy Infrastructure (24-Month Contract)

Overview

Our client is a specialist engineering consultancy supporting the delivery of major infrastructure and energy transition projects across Germany. They are currently seeking a proactive and technically skilled Project Engineer Geotechnics to support the execution of a large-scale underground power cable project.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with construction management, engineering teams, and key project stakeholders on one of Germany's most significant energy infrastructure programmes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, geology, or related disciplines, combined with practical experience supporting complex construction or infrastructure projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with construction management and site supervision teams to coordinate and monitor project execution activities.
  • Support quality assurance processes for technical designs, design modifications, and geotechnical investigations.
  • Review and assess engineering documentation related to underground cable installations and thermal conductivity requirements.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for transmission system operators and project stakeholders throughout the delivery phase.
  • Identify, assess, and manage geotechnical and construction-related risks across project sections.
  • Support the development and implementation of mitigation measures to reduce project and ground-condition risks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Sciences, Tunnelling Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience within geotechnical engineering, infrastructure, construction, or a comparable engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical assessment, construction methodologies, and infrastructure project delivery.
  • Experience working alongside contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders on technical projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn new software systems.
  • Fluent German language skills (minimum C1 level required).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
