Onshore Wind Project Optimisation Manager (Senior)
Onshore Wind Project Optimisation Manager (Senior)
Location: Germany - Remote
The Opportunity:
We are supporting an established renewable energy developer looking to strengthen its technical optimisation capability across its German onshore wind portfolio.
This is a cross-functional position sitting between Wind & Site, Development, Engineering, Asset Management and Investment.
Rather than focusing purely on engineering delivery or operational asset management, you will assess projects approaching investment decision/FID, challenge the underlying technical and commercial assumptions and identify opportunities to improve project performance and economics before capital is deployed.
There is significant flexibility around the position.
Your Responsibilities:
- Assess onshore wind projects approaching investment decision/FID and identify technical and commercial optimisation opportunities.
- Review and challenge energy yield, turbine selection, site layout, technical design and project assumptions.
- Understand how technical decisions influence CAPEX, OPEX, project performance and the overall investment case.
- Bring together technical and commercial information into a clear, investment-ready project narrative.
- Prepare and coordinate technical input for investment committee, FID and investor discussions.
- Anticipate and respond to technical questions from senior management and investment stakeholders.
- Work closely with Development, Engineering, Wind & Site, O&M, Asset Management and commercial teams.
- Challenge assumptions across different workstreams and ensure key technical risks and opportunities are understood before investment.
- Identify opportunities to improve project performance, yield and long-term value.
- Bring greater structure and ownership to the project optimisation process.
Your Background:
- Strong technical knowledge of onshore wind projects, particularly around yield, turbines, layouts and site considerations.
- 5+ years experience within the wind industry, although technical capability is more important than a specific number of years.
- Experience looking beyond an individual technical discipline and understanding the overall project.
- The ability to challenge technical and commercial assumptions rather than simply execute a defined workstream.
- Experience working across technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to discuss projects with senior management and investment stakeholders.
- Ideally, previous involvement in project feasibility, investment decisions, FID, business cases or technical due diligence.
