Mechatronics Technician
Location: Berlin (Onsite)
About Us
We are a defense technology startup based in Berlin, building the next generation defense layer against aerial threats. Our team develops mission-critical systems that combine hardware, software, and sensing to operate reliably in complex real-world environments.
As an early-stage company, we work in stealth mode and place a strong emphasis on engineering rigor, operational credibility, and disciplined system design.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled, fiercely resourceful Prototyping & Integration Technician. In this role, your primary mission is to own the physical fabrication, assembly, and modification of our prototype Counter-UAV (C-UAV) hardware from raw stock to finished product.
You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with our mechanical and electrical engineers, ensuring that what we design on screen actually works in the dirt. You are a master of the workshop equally comfortable operating a manual mill, laying down a clean TIG weld, or carefully assembling precision laser optics. If you love building cutting-edge machinery from scratch and want to see your work deployed in the field, this role is for you.
This position requires onsite work and eligibility for German security clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Machining: Manufacture and modify mechanical components from raw stock using manual mills, lathes, and CNC equipment.
- Advanced Prototyping: Run multiple 3D printing workflows from slicing to post-processing and finishing.
- Welding & Metalwork: Execute high-quality welding and sheet metal fabrication for structural frames and subsystem assemblies.
- Electro-Mechanical Integration: Assemble precision mechanical, optical, and laser enclosures. Handle basic electrical wiring, crimping, and ruggedized wire harness routing.
- Inspection: Rigorously inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges, flagging tolerance drift and geometric dimensioning (GD&T) issues before they reach the assembly stage.
- Design Feedback: Provide critical, constructive "shop floor feedback" to design engineers to optimize the next product revision for manufacturability (DFM).
- Maintain the prototyping workshop and lab space. Keep tools calibrated, manage hardware/fastener inventory, and ensure a safe, organized working environment.
Required Qualifications
- Proven Build Track Record: Deep, hands-on fabrication experience as welding, machining experience on assemblies.
- Drawing Literacy: Highly comfortable reading complex mechanical drawings
- High Standards: Intense attention to dimensional accuracy, structural integrity, and finish quality.
- Experience with manufacturing of composite materials
Preferred Qualifications
- Precision optical or laser system assembly experience.
- Military-grade wire harness fabrication (e.g., Amphenol, Glenair connectors, IP-rated sealing).
- Composites layup experience or sheet metal forming/brake work.
- Completed vocational training (Ausbildung) as a Mechatronics Technician (Mechatroniker), Precision Machinist (Feinwerkmechaniker), or military equivalent.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary
- VSOP / equity participation
- Central Berlin office
- Extreme growth opportunity in a fast-scaling startup
- Holiday Allowance

Who You Are
- The Ultimate Maker: You are deeply passionate about craftsmanship. You take pride in clean wiring, perfect fits, and highly organized workspaces.
- Resourceful Problem Solver: When a part doesn't fit quite right on the bench, you know exactly how to modify it safely and effectively to keep the team moving.
- Agile & Adaptable: You thrive in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities can shift based on yesterday's test results.
- Team Player: You communicate clearly with engineers, translating complex design concepts into practical fabrication steps.
