Lead Architect – Mission Critical Facilities & Data Centres


An excellent opportunity for an experienced Architect to join a leading international engineering consultancy, supporting the design and delivery of complex Mission Critical Facilities and data centre projects across Germany and Europe.


Location: Frankfurt, Germany


Salary: €75,000 – €85,000 basic + package (dependent on experience)


The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior / Lead Architect to join a multidisciplinary team delivering technically complex data centre and Mission Critical Facilities projects.


Working across the architectural and building engineering disciplines, you will take responsibility for the development, coordination and quality of building design deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.


You will work closely with engineers across structural, mechanical, electrical, infrastructure, building physics and fire safety disciplines, as well as clients and other project stakeholders.


This is an excellent opportunity for a senior professional with a strong building engineering or architectural background who enjoys working on technically demanding projects and taking ownership of design quality, coordination and delivery.


Projects will primarily focus on data centres and other Mission Critical Facilities, with opportunities to work across complex industrial, commercial and technically demanding building projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the architectural and building engineering elements of complex data centre and Mission Critical Facilities projects.
  • Develop building designs and technical solutions through concept, detailed design and construction stages.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and ensure effective communication between project disciplines.
  • Lead and coordinate teams of building engineers, architects and BIM modellers.
  • Review drawings, models, reports, specifications and other technical documentation to ensure design quality.
  • Produce and review technical drawings, specifications, reports and tender documentation.
  • Support the preparation and submission of planning / building permit documentation.
  • Contribute to tender and procurement documentation and support projects through construction phases.
  • Review construction-related information and provide technical input during the delivery phase.
  • Coordinate directly with clients and other project stakeholders.
  • Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings and technical discussions.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable German building regulations, standards and project requirements.
  • Support the implementation and development of BIM processes and digital design workflows, particularly using Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud.


Requirements for the position:

  • Degree in Building Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Member of the Chamber of Architects
  • Significant professional experience in building design and engineering, ideally at Senior level.
  • Strong experience delivering complex buildings, industrial facilities, commercial developments or Mission Critical Facilities.
  • Previous experience working on data centre projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of building construction methods, materials, detailing and technical design.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate teams of engineers, architects and modellers.
  • Strong understanding of German building regulations, standards and construction practices.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent German and strong English language skills is ideal.
  • Proactive, commercially aware and able to take ownership of technically complex projects.


PLEASE NOTE

Fluent German at B2 level or above is essential for this position, alongside strong English communication skills. Candidates without the required German language capability will unfortunately not be considered.
