HR Manager - Sports Betting

We are currently supporting one of the leading sports betting operators in Germany, as they look to grow their HR department through the hiring of a HR Manager. This position could suit a fresh graduate who has recently finished University, or a slightly more experienced candidate with 1 to 4 years experience. Our client is an ambitious business with offices in Düsseldorf and Malta. They operate in both retail and online sports betting, and have clear ambitions to grow market share across both sectors. This is an exciting time to join the business as they look to expand in various functions.


Responsibilities:

Reporting to the HR Director, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all human resources functions to support the organization's business objectives. This role ensures the effective implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs while fostering a positive employee experience and maintaining compliance with labour laws and regulations.


Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment and selection processes.
  • Collaborate with managers to identify staffing needs and workforce plans.
  • Develop strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Oversee onboarding and integration of new employees.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on HR-related matters, this primarily for shop employees.
  • Handle employee relations issues, grievances, and disciplinary processes.
  • Promote an inclusive, respectful, and high-performing workplace culture.
  • Support conflict resolution and workplace investigations when required.

Performance Management & Development

  • Manage performance review processes and support managers in setting objectives.
  • Identify training and development needs across the organization.
  • Coordinate learning and development initiatives.
  • Support succession planning and talent management programs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Administer compensation and benefits programs.
  • Participate in salary reviews, benchmarking, and incentive programs.
  • Ensure competitive and equitable compensation practices.
  • Support payroll-related processes with HR Director in cooperation with Finance and external providers.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve HR policies and procedures.
  • Monitor HR metrics and prepare management reports.

Organizational Development

  • Support organizational change initiatives and transformation projects.
  • Advise leadership on organizational design and people strategies.
  • Drive employee engagement and well-being programs.
  • Contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Fleet & Company Car Management

  • Manage the company's car fleet and company vehicle policy.
  • Coordinate the allocation, ordering, replacement, and return of company vehicles.
  • Act as the primary contact for leasing providers, vehicle suppliers, and employees regarding company cars.
  • Monitor lease contracts, vehicle renewals, maintenance schedules, and associated costs.
  • Ensure compliance with company car regulations, tax requirements, and driver documentation.
  • Maintain accurate fleet records and prepare reports on vehicle usage and costs.
  • Support employees with company car selections, changes, and related administrative processes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in a generalist HR role, preferably in a managerial position.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM, HRCI) is an advantage.
