Senior HR Business Partner, EMEA

Munich | High-growth, venture-backed technology scale-up

90,000 - 130,000 plus equity depending on experience

We're partnering with a well-funded, US-headquartered technology scale-up building highly technical AI-powered products for some of the world's most complex industries.

The business has grown approximately 3x over the last 18 months, with Europe becoming an increasingly important part of its global organisation. Following the appointment of a new Chief People Officer, the company is now investing significantly in its People function and the infrastructure required for its next phase of international growth.

We're looking for a Senior HR Business Partner, EMEA to help shape that journey across Europe.

The opportunity

This isn't a traditional HRBP role within an established People function.

You'll join an engineering-led organisation with exceptionally high standards, lean teams and significant individual ownership.

Partnering with senior leaders across Europe, you'll help them think strategically about how they build, structure and scale their organisations. You'll work across workforce planning, organisational design, performance and organisational effectiveness, while helping develop the People infrastructure needed to support continued European growth.

You'll also work closely with specialist People teams in the US across areas including compensation, benefits, mobility and People Operations, translating global programmes into approaches that work effectively across different European markets and legal entities.

It's a role that requires someone equally comfortable challenging a senior leader on an organisational decision and rolling their sleeves up to solve an operational People problem themselves.

What you'll own

  • People strategy and business partnering across EMEA.
  • Strategic partnership with senior leaders on workforce and organisational planning.
  • Organisational design and supporting teams through rapid growth and change.
  • Performance management and building a high-accountability culture.
  • European implementation and localisation of global People programmes.
  • Partnership with US teams across compensation, benefits, mobility and People Operations.
  • Navigating different European employment environments and legal entities.
  • Building pragmatic People solutions where established processes don't yet exist.
  • Hands-on involvement in operational HR when the business needs it.

What we're looking for

Technology scale-up experience is essential.

We're specifically looking for someone who has operated inside a high-growth, venture-backed technology business at an earlier stage, ideally while the organisation was below approximately 300 employees.

You understand what scaling really looks like: changing priorities, imperfect infrastructure, incomplete processes and a People team that can't simply add headcount every time a new problem appears.

You'll have a genuinely scrappy, builder mentality.

You see a problem and take ownership of solving it. You're comfortable creating something from scratch rather than inheriting an established playbook. You don't need a large team or extensive infrastructure around you to have impact, and you're still willing to get into the detail yourself.

Alongside this, you'll bring:

  • Strong German HR and employment expertise.
  • Business-level German is highly desirable.
  • Meaningful experience supporting multiple European countries and legal entities.
  • Ideally experience across Germany alongside markets such as the UK and/or Sweden.
  • Experience scaling within a high-growth, venture-backed technology company.
  • Strong strategic business partnering and senior stakeholder influence.
  • Organisational and workforce planning experience.
  • Experience operating within a high-performance culture.
  • The ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Comfort working across European and US-based teams.

This probably isn't for you if...

Your experience has primarily been within large, highly structured organisations where mature processes, specialist teams and established infrastructure are already in place.

Equally, if your next move is primarily about managing a large team, stepping away from execution or moving into a more predictable environment, this is unlikely to be the right opportunity.

Why join?

This is an opportunity to join at a genuine inflection point.

The company has the funding, growth and ambition of a global technology business, but the European People function is still at a stage where you'll have significant scope to shape how things are built.

You'll work alongside exceptionally high-calibre technical teams, have direct influence on how the European organisation scales and help translate a Silicon Valley People model into something that works brilliantly across Europe.

If you've experienced the intensity of scaling a technology company, enjoy solving difficult organisational problems and would rather build than maintain, we'd love to hear from you.
