Grid Connection Manager - BESS & Renewable Energy

Location: Anywhere in Germany

An ambitious international battery storage developer is expanding its activities across Germany and is looking for a Grid Connection Manager to take ownership of grid connection development across a significant portfolio of utility-scale BESS projects.

The German pipeline currently stands at approximately 2.5GW, across MV, HV & EHV. This is not a heavily structured corporate grid role. You will join a small, entrepreneurial German team and become the internal specialist responsible for determining where projects can realistically connect, how connection capacity can be secured and how relationships with German grid operators can be developed successfully.

The Role:

  • Identify suitable grid connection points for utility-scale BESS projects
  • Carry out grid capacity assessments and develop connection strategies
  • Prepare and manage grid applications with German DSOs & TSOs
  • Build strong relationships with grid operators and proactively progress applications
  • Negotiate technical requirements, connection costs and agreements
  • Coordinate external grid studies and engineering partners
  • Support projects from early development through planning and towards construction
  • Provide technical input across MV, HV and EHV connections

Your Background:

  • 3+ years’ experience in Grid Connection/ Electrical Engineering/ Power Systems
  • Experience with a DSO, TSO, Developer, IPP or renewable energy company
  • Understanding of the German grid connection process
  • Experience with MV, HV and/or EHV networks
  • Electrical Engineering or comparable technical background
  • BESS experience is beneficial but not essential, PV and Wind backgrounds are welcome
  • Strong German language skills
  • Proactive, independent and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment

For an ambitious grid professional who wants responsibility, autonomy and the opportunity to directly influence whether major energy storage projects reach construction, this represents a particularly interesting next step. Apply now or contact me for a confidential discussion.
