Role: Field Service Engineer - Surgical Robotics

We are partnering with an innovative and rapidly growing medical technology company to appoint a Field Service Engineer supporting a cutting-edge surgical robotics platform across Germany and wider Europe.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role ideal for an experienced engineer with a background in medical devices, healthcare technology, robotics, or other sophisticated capital equipment environments. You'll play a critical role in ensuring customers receive exceptional technical support, system performance, and service delivery throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across installed systems
- Perform installation, commissioning, upgrades, relocations, and de-installations
- Conduct preventative maintenance and corrective service activities
- Replace and repair system components as required
- Deliver remote and telephone-based technical support
- Provide on-site troubleshooting and first-line technical assistance
- Support customer training sessions and product demonstrations
- Maintain accurate service reports, maintenance records, and documentation
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Product Management, and Commercial teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for products and processes
- Assist with the development of service, user, and training documentation
- Support contract service requirements and customer retention activities
- Coordinate service-related logistics and equipment shipments when necessary
Requirements
- Technical qualification in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- Proven field service or technical support experience within a customer-facing environment
- Experience supporting medical devices, surgical systems, healthcare technology, robotics, or complex capital equipment
- Strong understanding of hospital environments and operating theatre protocols
- Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair capabilities
- Experience with service management and maintenance reporting systems
- Full driving licence
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout Europe
- Flexibility for occasional international travel, including APAC regions
- Fluent German and English language skills
