We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to support the delivery of large-scale BESS and Grid Connection projects across Central Europe. This is a freelance opportunity with a leading project developer/EPC environment, managing commissioning activities from pre-commissioning through to energisation and handover.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all commissioning activities on utility-scale BESS and grid infrastructure projects.
- Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures and schedules.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including electrical, SCADA, protection and control engineers.
- Interface with TSOs, DSOs, EPC contractors and key project stakeholders.
- Oversee testing, energisation and final handover activities.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety requirements and local regulations.
- Manage commissioning documentation, reporting and punch-list closure.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager, Lead Commissioning Engineer, or Commissioning Lead on power generation, substation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy or BESS projects.
- Strong background in high-voltage electrical systems and grid connection projects.
- Experience managing commissioning teams on-site.
- Knowledge of protection systems, SCADA, power systems and energisation procedures.
- Fluent English communication skills.
- Willingness to travel across Central Europe.
Required Skills
- Must have the legal right to work within the European Union without requiring employer sponsorship.
- Valid EU work authorization and ability to travel freely for project assignments across the EU.
