About the Role
We are seeking a Business Analytics Managerto own the analytical agenda for our Germany market– one of our most complex and strategically vital European hubs.
This is a senior Individual Contributor (IC) role with a clear mandate: use data to drive commercial decisions. You will be embedded with the Germany commercial team.
You are not a back-office reporting function. You are the analytical co-pilotfor Category, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Merchant Operations – translating complex data into clear, actionable business recommendations that shape P&L outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Business Performance
- Own the Germany market performance narrative – delivering weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews to the Germany Country Manager.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators across GMV, orders, revenue, conversion, fulfillment, customer experience, and contribution margin.
- Identify growth opportunities and operational bottlenecks through rigorous data analysis – providing clear, data-backed recommendations.
- Lead scenario planning and "what-if" modeling to support annual planning, budget allocation, and strategic investments.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Category teams to optimize assortment, pricing architecture, and promotional calendars.
- Collaborate with Marketing to evaluate channel efficiency, customer acquisition costs, and lifetime value.
- Work with Supply Chain & Logistics to balance delivery speed, cost, and customer satisfaction.
- Advise Merchant Operations on seller segmentation, incentive design, and supply-side retention strategies.
- Align with Product & Engineering to prioritize Germany-specific data requirements and instrumentation.
Advanced Analytics & Modeling
- Build forecasting models for demand, revenue, and supply – incorporating seasonality, promotions, and macroeconomic indicators.
- Design and execute causal inference analyses to measure incrementality of pricing changes, promotions, and marketing investments.
- Develop customer segmentation, cohort analysis, and lifetime value models to inform commercial strategy.
- Lead strategic deep-dives on high-priority topics – from fulfillment optimization to category expansion and competitive positioning.
Data Infrastructure & Automation
- Architect and maintain the Germany market data layer – from automated ETL pipelines to executive dashboards.
- Drive automation of recurring reporting, reducing manual effort and enabling focus on high-value strategic work.
- Establish self-service data capabilities for local commercial teams.
- Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance with GDPR and German data protection regulations.
Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in Business Analytics, Commercial Analytics, Strategy, Data Science, or Management Consulting with a quantitative focus, includingat least 2 years directly focused on the German or DACH eCommerce, retail, or marketplacesector.
- Master's Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Supply Chain, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Expert-level SQL– ability to write complex, optimized queries across petabyte-scale data warehouses (Snowflake/BigQuery/Redshift).
- Advanced proficiency in Python – with demonstrated experience in forecasting, causal inference, cohort analysis, segmentation, and automation.
- Expert-level BI skills– Looker, Tableau, or Power BI – building decision-making tools that commercial teams actually use daily.
- Proven track record of directly influencing P&L outcomes– measurable impact on GMV growth, margin improvement, or cost efficiency through data-driven recommendations.
- Strong business communication skills– ability to synthesize complex data into executive-ready narratives, board presentations, and actionable recommendations.
- Fluent English and required to lead meetings and present to local stakeholders in German. Based in Berlin, with a hybrid working model.
