AIOps Lead
Overview
We are seeking a senior technology leader to help define and shape the future of software delivery within an AI-first engineering organisation. As AI fundamentally changes how software is designed, built, tested and operated, this role will lead the evolution from traditional DevOps practices towards a new AI-enabled Software Development Lifecycle (AI-SDLC).
This is not a standard DevOps position. It is an opportunity to establish the operating model, practices and governance required for a modern engineering environment where AI becomes an integral part of development and operations.
Role Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining the framework, processes and culture that enable AI-driven software development at scale.
As development workflows become less linear and increasingly AI-assisted, this individual will help the organisation transition from established DevOps processes to new ways of working that balance innovation, control, quality and speed.
Working across engineering, architecture, platform and leadership teams, they will guide both strategic direction and practical implementation, ensuring the wider DevOps community successfully adopts next-generation software delivery practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and evolve an AI-enabled Software Development Lifecycle (AI-SDLC) strategy.
- Assess the impact of AI technologies on software engineering, platform operations and development workflows.
- Design and implement operating models, governance frameworks and best practices for AI-assisted development.
- Lead organisational change across established DevOps and engineering teams, driving adoption of new tools, processes and behaviours.
- Partner with engineering leadership to identify opportunities for automation, AI augmentation and process optimisation.
- Establish standards for reliability, security, quality and compliance within AI-enabled delivery environments.
- Act as a thought leader, educating stakeholders and shaping the long-term roadmap for AI-driven software development.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, translating innovation into practical business value.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a highly experienced technology leader who combines technical credibility with strong organisational influence and change management capabilities.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- A strong background in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or Software Engineering.
- Experience leading large-scale engineering transformations and introducing new operating models.
- Deep understanding of modern software delivery practices, cloud platforms, automation and developer productivity.
- Knowledge of AI-assisted software development, AI tooling, agentic workflows, LLM-enabled engineering practices or AIOps concepts.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead teams through significant change.
- Strategic thinking combined with a pragmatic approach to execution.
- Excellent communication, coaching and leadership skills.
